Dolce Heaven Reunited : Chinoz on the park, KLCC

Ohhhh hi guyss!! Angeline here and this time is my turn to update the blog ^^ Well this post is gonna be a short one but shhhhhhh...LONG POST IS COMING AFTER THAT!! ;)

Anyway, it was a nice Friday. After Huiyean and Denise picked me up from SS15, we heading to KLCC to have some light meals before our hi tea session in Mandarin Oriental Hotel (I am gonna blog about this on the next post).

So we were trying to pick a place to have our light meals unfortunately three of us couldn't decide what we actually what to eat. "WHAT TO EAT?" seriously is the HARDEST question to answer in my life!! Everyday I need to deal with this question haizzzz..While we keep walking and walking...we reached Chinoz on the park restaurant. We were like "Aiya just go in first only decide" so yeah we went in LOL

I love the ambience because it is kinda like Australian style. But somehow I felt it is a bit stuffy to me =S maybe stay too long in Australia and now I can't really stand this kind of hot weather in Malaysia. Had been experienced nose bleed, pimples growing, rashes breakout and diarrhoea ever since I came back. =.=

Okay so I recommended them to try out their Carbonara spaghetti with some turkey bacons on it as I already tried that before back in Bangsar and it was really not that bad =D Well three of us just shared one plate of it because we gonna have our hi tea session later on. We must leave some space in our tummy first xD

I swear the portion is enough for three of us LOL because the sauce is kinda CREAMY so it will be very full if you eat it alone. It tastes so nice with the crispy turkey bacon with it. Denise said the turkey bacon taste like "ba kua" (the dry meat we used to it during Chinese New Year) .  Nevertheless, we were quite happy for the light meal of the day ^^

Denise and Huiyean are Cappuccino lover I suppose? They always order cappuccino LOL so they never skip this time as well

The coffee art is sooo beautiful!! I prefer this kind of coffee art instead of those coffee art like teddy bear or some random cartoons on it. No offence ya >.<'' Classic and simple is always the best to me~~

And.....I ordered Apple Juice because I do not want to order something creamy or milky anymore since we ordered Carbonara spaghetti. Talking honestly, I was not really satisfy with this juice. It is not purely apple juice =/ They mixed the Celery into it =( which I hate it so much!!! But it is good for our skin though, celery can detoxify our body and reduce pimples growing on our face =)

So this is it!!!! Will post about our hi tea session soon kay~~~ please stay tuned ;)

Dolce Heaven Reunited: Alexis Bistro & Wine Bar, The Gardens Midvalley City

If you haven't read about our previous post of about Antipodean, click here  :)

I have heard raving reviews of the Tiramisu Alexis served but didn't really have a chance to try it.
So since we were shopping at Midvalley the other day, Vivian decided to bring me to Alexis specially for their cake.

So this is it! The highly sought-after Tiramisu.
This is definitely the best Tiramisu I've tasted so far!
The cake itself is soft and velvety but not too sweet, topped with caramalized crunchy cashews, paired with strawberry jam with a tinge of sour is simply heavenly.

Again, Vivian ordered Hot Chocolate.
According to Vivian, she preferred this instead of the ones in Antipodean.
She likes how she's able to adjust the sweetness of her drink as she's given a bowl of both white and brown sugar cubes.
Hot Chocolate in Alexis has a very deep, rich chocolate flavour.
Definitely a well-crafted drink for a true chocoholic like her!

  • Overall, this is a good place to have tea with your girlfriends no matter if you're tired from all the shopping or just wanted to chill and catch up. This is the place to be. Good food, nice ambience.
  • Price is at a steeper side though. It's okay to spoil yourself with a little good food once in a while anyways ;)

Dolce Heaven Reunited: Antipodean, Bangsar

Met up with Vivian at KL last Thursday and as a host herself, she decided to bring me to Antipodean Cafe @ Bangsar for lunch before our crazy shopping spree at Midvalley.

Antipodean (pronounced ''an-ti-po-dee-ann'') is one of the most popular Australian cafe in Bangsar serving all-day-breakfast and brunch menu from as early as 8.00am to as late as 11.00pm.

Love the creative idea of having customers to refer to the chalkboard menu on the wall instead of handling printed menus to customers like any other regular restaurants.

The waiters and waitresses provide a very well rounded service to each and every customers they serve. We were led to a table at the centre of the restaurant and I requested for a table at the side for a more quiet space but the waitress told me that I would not be able to refer to the menu directly if we were to sit at the more conserved seat at the back and advise me to sit at the centre instead.

Antipodean prides for it's high quality brewed coffee with some of the top specialty coffee beans in the world including the Merdeka Coffee from Indonesia, Acheh Arabica and many more!

So I thought since I'm in an Australian restaurant, why not order an Australian coffee instead?
Hence, I ordered a cup of  Flat White, RM9 to try.
The coffee is aromatic and smooth but it's too creamy for my liking.
I would still prefer Cappucino over Flat White as I prefer the stronger coffee flavor in it.

Vivian ordered Hot Chocolate, RM8 for herself.
She thought the Hot Chocolate is a little too milky for her but overall it's not too bad.

So for the food, we ordered the Croissant Scrambled Egg with Pork Sausage, RM 18 and the Big Breakfast, RM19 to share.
Croissant Scrambled Egg with Pork Sausage
The croissant is well-baked, which is fluffy inside and a little crispy outside. I can taste a mild buttery flavour from the bun and it tastes simply delightful.
I'm not too sure what are the leaves called but eating it together with the bun, scrambled egg and pork sausage made the whole dish not too heavy and oily.
And we found that the pork sausage tasted a bit like luncheon meat though, but not as salty.

Big Breakfast
Next up, the Big Breakfast. It was GIGANTIC. I don't think anyone with an empty stomach can finish it all by himself seriously...

The scrambled egg is the same as the ones in the croissant. Nothing too special about the egg though.
The bacon are fried to perfection, not too crispy but not too tender as well.
The Sautéed Portobello is juicy and flavorful.
This hearty wholesome is definitely a MUST TRY if you're here in Antipodean Cafe one day!

  • The portion they serve is very big. So for all you ladies, I would advice to share a order with your girlfriends to prevent wastage.
  • Price wise, it's quite reasonable considering how big the portion they serve.
  • The ambience can be a little noisy due to the crowd they have. If you're thinking of having brunch in a quiet and cosy cafe, this might not be the place for you.
  • Reservations are not permitted. Hence, securing a table during peak hours can be rather difficult. It's better to come in small groups as they have limited tables which catered to large groups.

Angeline's lose weight tips

Yayyyyyyy!! I finally blog again!!! Blogging about my lose weight tips ;) From 52kg >>>>46kg isn't that hard actually..I took around 2 weeks to achieve it!!! BUT!! The main reason is because I stay in Sydney now, the weather nowadays is sooooo damn freaking cold, people usually eat more during winter days and also will not gain any weight. So maybe in Malaysia, it might took around 1 month to do it? (just guessing xD) All I do is just CLEAN EATING.. Did not go gym at all. I personally think that heading to gym is for another aim, which is getting a nice ABS or like getting a very nice butt shape? But of course, I won't stop you from doing it if you want to slim down. Because it will make the slimming speed faster =D However, Imma lazy person haha so until now I still haven't go gym and do some exercise yet.

Let you see the result first...TAADAAAAA!!!

There are 3 rules that you need to STRICTLY follow..YES!! STRICTLY!!!!!
1) NO processed food
2) NO starch
3) Drink more water especially in the morning once you wake up

My suggestion is you can follow these rules for 6 days in a week and choose 1 day to eat whatever you want ^^

Why avoid eating processed food?
Maybe some of you think that, "I just eat biscuit with the Tuna canned food only ma!!! Such a small portion will not make me fat!! " Well you are wrong, processed food like canned food and instant noodles takes longer time for you to digest and also it contains high amount of SALT and SUGAR. You will never know what they added inside those processed food too =S It is not good for health at all. The idea of clean eating is very simple, cook everything from scratch by using all the RAW MATERIAL such as fresh vegetables, fresh meat and fresh fruits.

Why avoid eating starch?
Starch will be converted into sugar by the enzyme in your body, raising your blood-glucose level and inducing an insulin response. Excess sugar that is not used will be stored in your body as FAT!!! FAAATTTTTTTTT!! lol so RICE will be your first enemy, and also those who loves to eat pasta/spaghetti, actually you should avoid it now haha if you want to slim down faster.

Drink more water!!!
It will increase your metabolism and make your digestion process faster too =)

And of course! To lose so much weight, you need to have some commitment kay ;) you need to cook EVERYDAY,EVERY MEALS if you can. It does not take too much time from you actually. Later I will show you how long I took to prepare my meals.

So I have two simple examples on how I prepare for my lunch and dinner today.....

This is my lunch hehe..I love my food with full of different colours!! It is chicken breast and baby carrot cooked with chinese wine and lil bit of oyster sauce which goes with fresh spinach + tomato salad. I don't add any salad sauce here it is because sauce actually contains high calories @.@ So I think the sauce I made is already enough to eat with the vege. It is more than enough I should say!!

Do not force yourself to drink up all the sauce haha..actually lesser sauce is better!! And you know...Im a foodie!! I really can't take those miserable meals for so many days. At the end, I will just give up xD Hence, I just follow the 3 rules up there and cook whatever I want will do ^^ If you want to lose weight does not mean your meals will be forever VEGE VEGE VEGE....Imma meat lover too!! so I add chicken breast into my meals. Do not eat chicken drumstick or chicken wings ya. It contains lots of FAT too!!

And and!!
Dont forget to eat fruits ^^ I ate mandarin orange after lunch hehe

So now I am gonna show you how I prepare today's lunch (p/s: I think it is tasty but I don't know whether it suits your taste so just improvise yourself kay if you don't like it xD Somehow people tend to feel their own cooking is the best one including me!!)

This is what you need...

1) 5-7 Cherry Tomatoes
2) One baby carrot
3) Baby spinach (wth lol just realize everything is baby ><)
4) around 100-120g of chicken breast

Angeline's lunch recipe

Sorry ya dont have any own pics in my steps because my kitchen's light already spoilt LOL If take picture also cannot see xD

Step 1:
Cut the baby carrot into slices and boil it until it becomes soft. I am not a carrot lover last time because I hate the weird carrot smell. But I found out if I boil it and cook with some sauce, the smell will go away =D After the carrot is already cooked then you can take it out and put it aside.

Step 2:
Cut the chicken breast into thin slices as well so that chicken meat can be easily cooked.

Step 3:
Put a lil bit of oil that able to covers a very very VERY thin layer on your frying pan so that later when you cook the chicken breast, it won't stick on your pan. Heat the oil up and put your chicken breast slices into it.

Step 4:
When the chicken breast slices is almost cooked, you can already add your carrot into the frying pan. Stir fry it for a while and add around 1/3 small bowl (those typical chinese small rice bowl) of Chinese wine into it now. Cook with the meat and carrots for around 1 minute. If you don't know what is Chinese wine....this is how it looks like....

I swear almost everything add with this wine, it taste like restaurant food and yummy!!

Step 5:
Add a lil bit of oyster sauce to make it have some nice taste =) I really cannot eat something that is tasteless >.< Mix it thoroughly with the wine. It will be the sauce that go with the spinach and tomatoes.

Step 6:
When it is done, pour everything into a plate and serve with the fresh spinach and cherry tomatoes. Wash the spinach and tomatoes before you put it on the plate alright!!

MMMmmmmmm!!

And hey!! I manage to finish cooking it in around 20 minutes!!! haha this is the evidence!!

Angeline's dinner recipe

This is my dinner of the day....using slightly the same ingredients =) It is fried egg with spinach serve with cherry tomatoes and pear fruit. In my opinion, dinner should eat lesser than lunch. So my dinner's portion is always smaller than my lunch's portion.

These are the ingredients you need...

1) 2 eggs
2) Few cherry tomatoes
3) 1 Pear fruit
4) Fresh spinach

Can you see there is a smiley face on the eggs? haha have no idea why the egg factory print the smiley face on it. It looks so cute >.<

Step 1:
Pour a lil bit of oil to prevent the egg stick on your frying pan when you frying it. Heat up the oil, pour the spinach into it and stir fry it for a while.

Step 2:
Pour two eggs into the frying pan. That two eggs have to mix together with a bit of soy sauce before you pour into the pan so it won't be so tasteless later on.

Step 3:
Fry them together until you see the egg turns abit brownish colour ^^ Brownish colour is not because it is already over cooked, it is because I added the soy sauce into it.

Step 4:
Place the fried eggs with spinach on the plate and serve with cherry tomatoes and pear fruit that is freshly cut. Then dinner is set!!!!!

If you hungry later on......Maybe you can eat a lil bit of greek yogurt? or just eat more fruits and drink more water =)

So this is the end of my post!! Will post more recipes next time hehe...Toodles!!!!

Beauty Facts and Myths

Have you ever been swamped with all the beauty dos and don't you read from the magazine, online or even from your friends and family that you felt skeptical about yet blindly follow them all because you think that it's better to be safe than sorry?

Well, lucky you because I've recently came across this article about some most common beauty facts and myths so I thought it's a good idea to share with you girls today! :)

1) CHOCOLATE IS BAD FOR SKIN AND CAUSES ACNE
Acne is caused by many reasons, but mainly due to overactive oil glands, a poor diet or is genetically inherited. The condition of your skin is also affected by the conditions of your body, so like the saying,    'moderation is the key', it is best to limit your chocolate consumption to improve your diet for healthier skin.

2) ACNE GOES AWAY WITH AGE
Bad news, ladies--age DOES NOT influence the demise of acne on our skin. Hormones cause acne, which can occur even after menopause, so the least we can do is keep our face regularly washed and clean.

3) MISTING WITH WATER KEEPS SKIN MOISTURISED
What happens when you constantly licking your lips? Your lips' condition gets worse and becomes chapped or cracked! Like constantly licking your lips, misting your face with pure water, even if it is spring or distilled water, will actually make your skin drier once the water evaporates. Use a face mist that contains glycerine to help lock in moisture, and with aloe vera or Vitamin E to give skin extra nourishment!

4) CUCUMBER HELPS REDUCE SWELLING
The redness around your eyes when you're tired is caused by broken blood vessels as a result of excessive rubbing around the eye area. Placing cold cucumber slices on the eyes is one of the great ways to reduce puffiness. Easy and affordable, not to mention it tastes pretty good too!

5) DRINKING LOTS OF WATER KEEPS SKIN FROM DRYING AND PREVENTS WRINKLES
What keeps skin young and supple is the presence of oil and collagen, which will decrease as we get older, forming more wrinkles. That is not to say that we should not drink water as it keeps our bodies hydrated from the inside, but what also keeps skin and hair moist and healthy is natural body oil!

6) PORES CAN BE REDUCED WITH COLD WATER
Unfortunately, it is impossible to change the size of your pores as it is genetically influenced, but you can tighten them by exfoliating and washing your face with cold water. However, this is only a temporary effect. Don't worry about the size of your pores; just keep your face clean and exfoliate, and let your concealer do the rest :)

7) NAIL POLISH TURNS NAILS YELLOW
Nails turn yellow because they can absorb the colour pigments from nail polish, especially darker hues like red and black. Paint a clear base coat before applying polish to prevent this.

Let us know if you are facing any beauty dilemmas, questions or even ideas that you would like us to blog about in our next post! Hope to hear from you soon! :)

Waterful Skin

Our skin has a hydro-lipid layer (protective film made up of water and natural lipids) which will slow down the dehydration process, protect from external aggressions as well as maintain the skin’s pH value.  However, the skin moisture levels drop easily many reasons such as climatic conditions, lifestyle and eating habits.

Well, I flipped through magazine one day and got attracted by the advertisement“Be waterful everyday with laneige for healthy, hydrated skin! “Who doesn’t want to have healthy and hydrated skin? So Iwent to Laneige counter in Sunway Pyramid to know more bout it.

I’m lucky to meet a friendly promoter, SheiAine. She is good in explaining all the hydration range products to me.  She observed my skin as well to check whether is the range suitable my skin type.

Laneige is a popular Korean Skin Care Product optimal for hydration and moisturisation. What makes me love this brand more is that my favorite actress, Song HyeKyo as their spokesperson =D The first product that caught my attention is their world best selling product - Laneige Water Sleeping Pack_EX.  It is a night mask, which you can wear it overnight to keep your skin moisturized! This amazing product has won the Cosmo Asian Beauty Awards 2011.  What make it so amazing are the ingredients in it:
Beta Glucan – Skin regeneration effect
Ceramide SLN – Moisture loss protection
Hunza Apricot Extract – Skin purificationChestnut Extract – Improving skin texture
80ml ; RM100 ; For all skin type

Since I’ve not used this product before, Shei Aine gave me 2 samples to try out.  Besides, she gave me Laneige Water Bank Essence and Laneige Sun Block Aqua + samples as well. (She wouldn’t give me the samples to try out if she isn’t confident with her products, I guess :P)

Laneige Water Bank Essence has been promoted in “nuyou’ and  “Reader’s choice”.  Based on the reviews from reliable sources, this product can instantly dampers skin with ample moisture and form natural moisture barrier on skin surface as it consists of:
Bio Ducelli – Skin turn over
Vita-Mineral Nano Water – Efficient moisture delivery
Hydro Motor – Moisture supply
Hydro Circulator – Water circulation in skin

60ml ; RM165 : For all skin type

Laneige Sun Block Aqua + is the daily sun protection that supplies moisture to retain suppleness of skin.

50ml ;RM109 ; For all skin type

So…… these are the samples I got from SheiAine after consultation.
Okay, this is what I always do, get some samples and try it out first before buying it (if there’re samples).  At least you will know how do the products react on your skin ;)

My review:
1)Laneige Sleeping Pack_EX
Texture: Baby blue gel, which has very light and watery texture.

Scent: refreshing and calming marine-like scent (my type) :)

How I apply it: After cleansing and toning, I squeeze a pea-sized amount of it and spread over the face from inner to outer part along the skin texture.  Then I leave it till the next morning.
* The recommended amount is 2.5cm in diameter but it takes quite a long time for the product to absorb into my skin. So I think <2.5cm in diameter is sufficient coz it absorbs into my skin faster without the greasy feeling.

Effect of the product: After I rinse my face on the second day, my skin feels smooth and looks more radiant.  Plus, it doesn’t cause any irritation to my skin, which is a plus point.

Would I purchase this product? : Yes, definitely! After I finish all the samples :P

2) Laneige Water Bank Essence
Texture: Lighter than moisturizer but creamier than serum, it gives a watery texture as if it melts into your skin

Scent: Cooling and refreshing smell

How I apply it: I use it whenever I am not using the Sleeping Pack.  After cleansing and toning, I squeeze a hazelnut-sized amount and gently spread it from the centre of the face towards the contours.  After that, I cover my entire face with both hands to enhance penetration.

Effect of the product: It melts on skin and the skin “drinks” it all up instantly.  I like the feeling of damp skin and suppleness!

Would I purchase this product?: Yes I will :)

Result after applying Laneige Water Bank Essence for 5 consecutive days.  I hope you guys can see the difference though it is not very visible . And FYI it's my hand. :)

3) Laneige Sun Block Aqua +
Texture: Light texture and non sticky compared to the sunblock I use previously

Scent: Fragrance

How I apply it: Sun Block is the last step of skincare.  I spread it evenly on my face before applying make up

Effect of the product: Amazingly it gives my complexion a glow an mask mirror imperfections.  It is non-sticky too.

Would I purchase this product? : Yes I will :)

Do drop by the nearest Laneige counter to find out more! Enjoy guys!
PS: I don't get paid for this blogpost! Its not an advertisement :P

XOXO,
Vivian
