Dolce Heaven Reunited: Antipodean, Bangsar

Met up with Vivian at KL last Thursday and as a host herself, she decided to bring me to Antipodean Cafe @ Bangsar for lunch before our crazy shopping spree at Midvalley.

Antipodean (pronounced ''an-ti-po-dee-ann'') is one of the most popular Australian cafe in Bangsar serving all-day-breakfast and brunch menu from as early as 8.00am to as late as 11.00pm.

Love the creative idea of having customers to refer to the chalkboard menu on the wall instead of handling printed menus to customers like any other regular restaurants.

The waiters and waitresses provide a very well rounded service to each and every customers they serve. We were led to a table at the centre of the restaurant and I requested for a table at the side for a more quiet space but the waitress told me that I would not be able to refer to the menu directly if we were to sit at the more conserved seat at the back and advise me to sit at the centre instead.

Antipodean prides for it's high quality brewed coffee with some of the top specialty coffee beans in the world including the Merdeka Coffee from Indonesia, Acheh Arabica and many more!

So I thought since I'm in an Australian restaurant, why not order an Australian coffee instead?
Hence, I ordered a cup of  Flat White, RM9 to try.
The coffee is aromatic and smooth but it's too creamy for my liking.
I would still prefer Cappucino over Flat White as I prefer the stronger coffee flavor in it.

Vivian ordered Hot Chocolate, RM8 for herself.
She thought the Hot Chocolate is a little too milky for her but overall it's not too bad.

So for the food, we ordered the Croissant Scrambled Egg with Pork Sausage, RM 18 and the Big Breakfast, RM19 to share.
Croissant Scrambled Egg with Pork Sausage
The croissant is well-baked, which is fluffy inside and a little crispy outside. I can taste a mild buttery flavour from the bun and it tastes simply delightful.
I'm not too sure what are the leaves called but eating it together with the bun, scrambled egg and pork sausage made the whole dish not too heavy and oily.
And we found that the pork sausage tasted a bit like luncheon meat though, but not as salty.

Big Breakfast
Next up, the Big Breakfast. It was GIGANTIC. I don't think anyone with an empty stomach can finish it all by himself seriously...

The scrambled egg is the same as the ones in the croissant. Nothing too special about the egg though.
The bacon are fried to perfection, not too crispy but not too tender as well.
The Sautéed Portobello is juicy and flavorful.
This hearty wholesome is definitely a MUST TRY if you're here in Antipodean Cafe one day!

  • The portion they serve is very big. So for all you ladies, I would advice to share a order with your girlfriends to prevent wastage.
  • Price wise, it's quite reasonable considering how big the portion they serve.
  • The ambience can be a little noisy due to the crowd they have. If you're thinking of having brunch in a quiet and cosy cafe, this might not be the place for you.
  • Reservations are not permitted. Hence, securing a table during peak hours can be rather difficult. It's better to come in small groups as they have limited tables which catered to large groups.
